boy, have i been away from blogging for a looong time. so long in fact, that i had to start an entire new blog because i couldn’t figure out how to find my old one!

soooo, what’s the deal? i realized that the year 2011 was probably the worst ever for taking photos. i thought participating in i heart faces might help me get my groove back, hence the need for a blog.

next weeks’ theme is called “by the book” and i had just so happened to have taken some pictures of my son with a few books from my own childhood. i can’t wait to post the picture in that challenge, but it isn’t until january 23rd. to get a little practice posting, here are two photos that i considered but ultimately decided against:

while i generally like the composition of this photo, my son’s gleeful expression and crazy bedhead, i decided that the focus is too soft around his eyes.

i wasn’t as happy with the overall composition of this photo for the purposes of the contest. i don’t think the books are prominent enough. however, i love his sweet little smile and pose. also, i loooove the lighting and catchlights! oh well, this is a good one for the grandparents, no?
